How does the Consett Chairman go about things?? Clearly not well.  Is this a long standing issue for other clubs?

Durham & Northumberland One / Results
« on: September 16, 2017, 05:43:05 PM »
Barnard Castle 40 - 13 Novocastrians
Gateshead 34 - 31 Stockton
Gosforth 8 - 27 Durham City
Horden and Peterlee 18 - 21 Guisborough
Ponteland 16 - 24 Consett
Redcar 10 - 19 Medicals
South Shields Westoe 48 - 12 Hartlepool Rovers

Some cracking games by the look of things.  But am I missing something?  Only 4 people predicted a Medicals win away at newly promoted Redcar.  Now I'm not saying playing Redcar away is ever going to be a walk in the park and evidently the scoreline suggests that it wasn't, but for an established team in DN1 known to play free flowing (Medicals) one would expect them to come out victors.

Looking at the other results, Horden still struggling, are they set for a season of torment or are things about to change?  Whilst Gateshead appear a good outfit this season putting Stockton to the sword.

Barney 42 - 12 Gosforth - Thinking Gosforth will struggle against last seasons surprise package. No surprise here, Castle to win convincingly.
Gateshead 18 - 29 Medicals. Medicals to get off to a strong start, not looking as reliant on students this year, should be a good game.
Guisborough 44 - 10 Ponteland - Convincing home win, could be a long season for Ponteland.
Horden 17 - 15 Durham City - Tight game and bruising encounter
Redcar 24 - 27 Hartlepool Rovers. Important game come the end of the season one would think.
Westoe 52 - 15 Novo's expecting a big win
Stockton 14 - 15 Consett Again another tight one, wonder how many sin binnings there will be?!

Meds 23-8 Ponteland in the cup

Although the dust has barely settled on this season and admittedly a lot can happen in the off season.  Thought it would be interesting to hear peoples' views on who would be chasing promotion and who would be battling for survival come next season.

Joining the teams in DN1 looks to be 3 out of 4 (+/- level transfer of one of these or a team already in DN1) of Redcar and Ponteland from DN2 and Guisborough and Durham City from N1 East.

Barnard Castle
Consett
Gateshead
Gosforth
Hartlepool Rovers
Horden
Medicals
Middlesbrough
Novos
South Shields Westoe
Stockton

Difficult to look beyond Westoe and Durham , but who knows Barnie may build on an impressive last season.  Relegation…..difficult one to predict, think it'll be a tight affair next year, two of Gosforth, Ponteland, Novos and Redcar.  But again plenty of other teams could get dragged into it.

Unquestionably the answer to this is Barnard Castle….hugely impressive to be challenging for promotion.  Will be interesting to see whether they can maintain this next season.  After all look what happened to Novo's this season. Agree with the Gateshead shout also.

Barnard Castle  18 v 35 S S Westoe - not as tight as some predicting, Barry have faltered of late. Best of luck to both teams.
Consett  12 v  22  Northern - victory for northern, close though
Gateshead 24 v 15 Stockton - midtable holiday mode rugby, hope the security has been hired by Gateshead
Hartlepool 18 v 10 Novos - Hartlepool to finish with a win
Medicals 17 v 15 Horden/Peterlee - tight game, could go either way
Boro 28 v 12 Rovers -
Gosforth 45 v 8 Ryton - all the best to Ryton next season, hope they come back fighting

Once again the red mist descends on Hit Man Hall. Your inability to allow the appropriate society and channels to do their jobs is fascinating to say the least. What is more alarmingly and something that has been mentioned on numerous occasions is your position as a referee, it strikes me as fool hardy to come out with your inarticulate and subjective views on an open forum. It doesn't do you or your club any favours. I'm not saying don't have a view, quite the opposite in fact. But clearly there comes a point where your views as a supporter influence yours and other opinions of one another.

This raises a number of matters.

1. Is this a genuine issue? More evidence needed, but it looks that way.

2. Is this behaviour condoned by the club in question? Evidently matters haven't been dealt with internally given previous history.

3. More context required from game to make fair assessment, only seen Westoe's match report.

4. Why comment on the number of refs needed for a match Badgerbear, that's down to the referee society and how they deem what is or isn't required.

5. Did Westoe field all students? Or were the two on the end of Stocktons endeavours just students and hence rightfully dealt with?

Barnard Castle 58 - 12 Ryton - expecting a close first half, think barnie will run away with it in the 2nd though
Consett 30 - 5 Rovers - although rovers looked to have scraped to safety, consett will have too much fire power
Gosforth 10 - 44 Northern
Hartlepool 7 - 28 Horden - another nail in the coffin
Medicals 29  - 15 Middlesbrough - meds getting stronger the longer the season continues, should have too much speed for Borough
Novo's 12 - 22 Gateshead still not completely out of the woods for Novos
Westoe 28 - 20 Stockton close affair
