I've a season ticket at the falcons and honestly find will Welsh the shola ameobi of the side he's terrible but always gets a game and out lives players much better in the same position at there respective sports Newcastle clubs shola pained us for 12yrs at the toon apart from decent performances against Sunderland he was terrible. Welsh has outlived Andy Saull at the falcons who was a much better back row openside. When they've reshuffled the pack due to injuries mark Wilson got put in at lock despite being the form back row. Nili latu gives you that go forward and is much quicker off a scrum yet he's been on the bench numerous times. Personally speaking I'd have a back row of Wilson and latu on the flanks with fonua or ally hogg at no8. As for your captain I'm a firm believer of your club captain not necessarily being a guaranteed starter who evers the best leader on the chosen xv for whatever game it is is your captain.

Bit of a while since anyone posted on here. What's people's thoughts on the falcons this season? Slightly improved on last season but lost the last few on the belt. Is Dean Richards the man to take them forward? Rumour has it he's hardly at the training ground these days and spends more time with his fishing rod. Think they need a new club captain as will Welsh shouldn't be anywhere near the first team in my opinion he must be doing something well on the training pitch

Yes human exactly what mugsy said no offence intended I played Horden last season for consett not this season we played them on a red hot day and ran them ragged we won 30odd-10 if I remember the pack they had out that day included thirkell and thubron two blokes I wouldn't class as small we dont have the biggest of packs but have a mobile one had the weather of been bad that day I think the game could've been alot closer or perhaps swang the other way

I'd say the weather has a big impact on scoring and results Horden can be a prime example they got off to a bad start this year any one who knows or have played against Horden knows there strong point is there heavyweight pack and forward play there results have picked up with the weather dropping.

What's your thoughts on scrums now compared to older days gone by with there not being a hit and 9times out of 10 the 9 feeding the ball to his second row rather than hooker?

At times I wish they could bring back the old fashioned rucking skills as some refs struggle to manage a breakdown and dont penalise players not making an effort to move but as was stated in the previous comment players are now bigger and in some cases more skilled due to gym use and better nutrition and supplements so this could cause some damage aswell as some people taking it to far causing more injurys.

Consett 38 novos 7
Gateshead 6 Westoe 18
Guisborough 24 rovers 15
Medicals 12 Durham city 45
Ponteland 6 Horden 32
Redcar 7 Bernard castle 28
Stockton 20 Gosforth 18

Hopefully my selections dont offend you to much rolf hopefully you and the city boys enjoy your prawn sandwiches and wine spritzers after a win at medicals

As a former player at the club bit disappointed to see there results this season losing all games by 40+ points after a decent season last year finishing mid table with a strong ish squad. Got a new coach in Kevin Westgarth this season who was at novos and Gosforth what's went wrong any insight??
