Keep telling people about it guys and hopefully we'll get to 1000 like the Yorkshire board! (They were very helpful in helping me set this up!)

Lets keep posting about all things Durham and Northumberland and to all the guests who regularly view but don't post...

Come on sign up and we'll get the conversation flowing throughout the season; everybody has an opinion that we'd all like to know  ;D

RULES *PLEASE READ* / The Forum's "Report to Moderator" Function
« on: August 09, 2013, 01:35:18 PM »
As you're probably aware, this forum has a "Report to Moderator" function built into its software (located at the bottom-right corner of all posts). The purpose of this function is to aid moderators in their duties. As you can imagine, it's not easy (nor plausible) for a small team of people to read every last post in every last thread on the forum, so this is where we need your help. If you see a post that you believe is in violation of the forum's Rules and Guidelines or Terms of Service, it would be highly appreciated if you could use the "Report to Moderator" function to bring it to our attention.

By using this function, you help to increase the quality of the forum, as well as boost your own reputation amongst the administrators, which may lead to consideration for moderator duties should such positions become available in the future.

Note, however, that misuse of this function (such as reporting posts that are blatantly NOT in violation of any rules) may lead to discipline, banning or deletion, if it is a frequent occurrence.

Also please be aware that, whilst reportings are not anonymous to administrators, all details will be kept strictly confidential and will not leave the admin forum. You will not, under any circumstances, be name dropped on the open forum for reporting a post in a genuine manner.

If you have any questions regarding the "Report to Moderator" function, please PM or e-mail one of the forum's administrators.

Durham & Northumberland Three / DN3 Pre-Season Predicitons
« on: August 08, 2013, 02:38:36 PM »
Lets see if this will get the DN3 section going!

Who'll go up?

STC seemed to have strengthened over the summer with a few lads coming from Westoe. They have a pre-season game against Rockcliff so it'll be interesting to see how they fare.

Houghton missed out last year so this year might b their year...

However Winlaton and Seaham will be eager to bounce back. Seaham were very unlucky to go down last season and will fancy their chances.

Other Senior Rugby / Change to Sending Off Procedure
« on: August 08, 2013, 01:37:40 PM »
Saw this on Yorkshire rugby.net

Thought you might all appreciate sight of the following circular just doing the rounds.

"As you will no doubt be aware, IRB Regulation 17.1 sets out the Core Principles that the IRB have directed shall be applied as mandatory provisions by Unions in disciplinary regulations at all levels of the Game. In particular, IRB Regulation 17.7.1 (k) provides that:
‘Players Ordered-Off or cited by a Citing Commissioner shall be provisionally suspended pending the hearing of the case’.
This provision in the IRB Regulations came into force in June 2012 and has now been incorporated into RFU Regulation 19 (‘Discipline’) as required for next season.
As you will be aware this is a fundamental change from the position last season where a player who was ordered-off or cited by a Citing Commissioner was free to play pending the final outcome of his/her case.
Thus, from 1 August 2013 that IRB Core Principle will apply in England at all levels of the Game and players ordered-off will not be permitted to play pending a disciplinary hearing or an appeal. (You may recall that this was the position a number of years ago i.e. players who were ordered-off the field of play were suspended until they appeared before the disciplinary panel and it appears that we have now come full-circle in relation to this issue).
Due to the fact that players will be suspended pending a disciplinary hearing it is incumbent on RFU Disciplinary Panels and RFU CB Disciplinary Panels to ensure that cases are dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
Therefore, we are writing to request that you remind all referees at all levels of the Game of the forthcoming changes and to encourage them to continue to produce any sending-off reports as quickly as possible to the RFU
Discipline Department or RFU CB Discipline Secretary (and in any event within 48 hours of the conclusion of the match as required by RFU Regulation 19).
Delays in receiving such reports may lead to Disciplinary Panels not being in a position to progress cases as expeditiously as possible and may lead to players being suspended longer than is necessary.
I would be very grateful if you would please pass this letter on to all referees/Referee Societies.
Many thanks for your assistance in this matter.
Yours sincerely
Gerard McEvilly
RFU Head of Discipline"

Other Senior Rugby / Ask the Ref?!
« on: August 07, 2013, 03:55:26 PM »
All, one of our members has had a great idea suggesting a thread where players and supporters can ask questions that would be answered by a referee.

The answers would all be given under laws and any IRB/RFU guidance/clarifications. The usual 'ref bashing' or in some cases 'ref praising' can continue to thrive on other parts of the forum - but we can keep this one for genuine questions.

North One / How will the 5 North East teams fare?
« on: August 07, 2013, 03:54:02 PM »
Lets see if we can kick off a bit of chat in here for the big guns of Amateur (Who are we kidding  ;) ) rugby

Alnwick - Relegation battle
Boro - Mid table
Morpeth - Mid table
Northern - Relegation Battle or a promotion charge?
West Hartlepool - No idea but they've lost a few players recently.

Durham & Northumberland Two / DN2 Pre-Season Predictions
« on: August 07, 2013, 10:18:20 AM »
Who'll go up?

Between Redcar, Ryton and North Shields in my opinion

Who'll go down?

Whitby may struggle along with Wallsend. Prudhoe should have enough again.

Hartlepool B.B.O.B could be the surprise package with their new signings.

RULES *PLEASE READ* / General Posting Guidelines
« on: August 06, 2013, 10:37:17 PM »
The moderation team is here to keep the forums safe, sane, and secure. The forum rules are here to help us do that, and to ensure that these forums are of the highest quality.  Read them.  Know them.  Please do not try to cleverly circumvent them.

Note that repeated ignorance towards ANY individual rule can (and will) result in a permanent ban, at the discretion of the moderation team.

General Posting Guidelines

Duplicate threads: Before you start a thread, please use the forum's search facility to make sure the content of your post is not already covered in another thread.

Correct forum: Please try to be sure you post any new threads you start in the correct forum. If you're not sure where you're thread should go, check with a moderator.

One Liners: When starting a thread, please refrain from using one liners. If you're posting an article or image from another website, please include a link to the source. Also, when posting an article or image, try to stick a few lines underneath to start up the discussion.

Anonymous Sourcing: As said above; please don't do this. If you copy and paste from a source, please provide a link. Please don't copy and paste from subscription sites, you might get us in trouble.

Headline spin: Please try and make thread titles as descriptive as possible of the thread's actual content.

News Articles: When posting a link to an online news story, please post the text as well.  This is convenient for everyone, and helps those who have certain sites blocked from their servers for whatever reason.

So what are the roles of a Forum Moderator?

The Moderators keep control of the various forums. They can edit posts, edit User Accounts, ban members, move / delete / lock or unlock topics - as they see fit or if those topics or users contravene the forum guidelines.

Moderators are there to ensure that a member doesn't misbehave whilst he or she is on the forum, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant environment for the other members.

What If I Get Banned?
If you break one of the forum rules, your name will appear in the "House of the Banned" forum followed by the rule you broke and a link to the post(s) in question. This is done so users can see exactly what constitutes a violation of the rules.  We will do our best to leave the guesswork out of our moderation, so everyone will know exactly how far is too far.

Multiple Bannings
Please be aware that users who are banned more than 3 times will have their ban length DOUBLED for any future occurrences and again once more.  After that an IP ban will be introduced, depending on the ban.

We hope these rules and guidelines make the forums a more enjoyable place for everyone.
