Stockton RFC have moved from Norton to Grangefield
« on: August 02, 2015, 01:29:50 PM »
Stockton have now moved about 2 miles down the road along the A1027 ring road into the area where most of our senior and junior players live. Changing & pitches are behind Grangefield Academy ( currently being rebuilt) and our bar is immediately over the road at the cricket field - not a dissimilar set up to Norton. Plenty of parking.

If coming from the A19 just carry on at the roundabout with the church on the left (where you would have previously turned right for our old ground). Go under the blue railway bridge , straight over the next roundabout, *  straight through the traffic lights at crossroads (with Supermarket on the right). At next traffic lights turn right up road behind the old school to access changing & playing area, or turn left into cricket ground for our bar.

If coming from A177 instead of turning left at big TESCO at outskirts of Stockton carry straight on at roundabout , then straight over next roundabout , straight thru traffic lights with Mile House pub on left and then right at next roundabout which takes you onto ring road A1027 then follow instructions above as from *

"Following the consultation process with the junior and senior playing members, life members and Vice Presidents, we have amicably agreed a period of notice with the Norton Sports Charity after 67 years on the site.

From the August 1st we will officially form a community partnership with Stockton Cricket Club (TS18 4JF) and with Grangefield Academy (immediately over the road TS18 4LE).

The relocation  constitutes a new chapter in our history and places us at the heart of Stockton's community. Our on-going work with the primary and secondary schools in the local area also places us in an ideal position to continue our recent renaissance, and whilst we will take time to grow acclimatised to our new home, we can assure you that both Stockton Cricket Club and Grangefield Academy are as committed and supportive of the partnership as we are."

I've kept this in the Merit League section and not removed it like the others.

As pointed out by another member, lower teams from other clubs will no doubt be playing Stockton in the future and may need to remind themselves where they've moved to.

Abject apologies for my previous overenthusiastic posting in other section regarding our move . It is useful to have clarification of preferred posting procedure.

Some of our lads need to be reminder where we've moved to, let alone the opposition, as one lad - who lives 400 yards from our new ground - went the 2 miles to Norton on foot to train last night

Not as bad as one of our team managers who went to McMullen Road in Darlington with all the shirts etc  some 10 years after they moved to Blackwell Meadows !
