Pre-Season Fixtures
« on: August 10, 2015, 05:39:54 PM »
Any clubs having their first run out this weekend? What fixtures do teams have before the season kicks off properly on 5th September?

Novos are playing in a round robin this Saturday against two Scottish clubs.

Hillhead Jordanhill RFC and Broughton RFC.

I believe Hillhead Jordanhill are quite a strong Scottish team.

Stockton have a friendly vs Bishop Auckland on the 22nd. The 2s then have a midweek match vs Sedgefield on the 25th before facing Sunderland in the cup on the 29th. We also had a memorial game v Acklam in July.

Novos drew 10-10 with Broughton with a mixed side.

A predominantly 1st XV beat Hillhead Jordanhill 5 tries to 2.

Both sides were good fun and we all enjoyed a few beers and a sing song in the clubhouse afterwards!

I believe Hillhead Jordanhill are quite a strong Scottish team.

Their most famous son being the legendary prop Ian McLauchlin aka Mighty Mouse - famed for his ability to put much bigger props to shame... the 74 Springboks would vouch for that.

Went and watched Durham city v westoe in the Durhamsenior cup tonight with city winning 43-15 don't know if things are going downhill rapidly at westoe but city put them to the sword quite convincingly for them being a league below there opponents
