N1E 2017. Last Relegation Spot?
« on: January 29, 2017, 09:03:42 PM »
Seeing as I've created one for the DN1 forum I thought we could try and get a bit more chat going on in here. It is pretty certain that Wheatley Hills and Guisborough are both going down. However, amazingly just 6 points split 6th placed Morpeth from 12th placed Dinnington!

6th   Morpeth           44pts
7th   Percy Park   44pts
8th   Durham City   42pts
9th   Driffield           42pts
10th Hud' YMCA       39pts
11th Malt & Norton   39pts
12th Dinnington   38pts

--------

3rd last - Finishes since 2011.

2011- Pontefract 51pts
2012- Old Brods 47pts
2013- Keighley    37pts
2014- M'Boro      50pts
2015- Brad & Bin 50pts
2016- Northern    32 pts

The average points total of the last relegation spot since 2011 (first season of bonus points) has been 44.5. It seems pretty likely that 45 points will be beaten in 2017! Anyway, what an exciting prospect that anybody from 6th place downwards could go down.

I hate to say it but I could see Durham City being in or around there on the final day of the season. If not them, perhaps Malton & Norton (sorry Riddler!!!). I can definitely see Dinnington pulling away from it.

Who do you think it will be?

I've moved out of the area guv due to work so I haven't seen Malt play since early September. I hope they stay up but I'm not sure!

YMCA to go down

GUIs v YMCA on Saturday. A big game in hand for Huddersfield. If they win it will give them a bit more breathing space

The fact that London Welsh have gone bust will mean that the club with the best points total from all the 12th placed clubs in the 8, level 6 leagues will survive. At the moment this is Dinnington in N1E.

Wouldn't fancy playing in the lowest London League that "Welsh" start in next year. May be a bit tough to play them.

Reckon 52 points may be needed to escape the trap door this season, unless 12th placed N1E better than the other 7 leagues at level 6 which at the moment it is.
