Looking at their squad, I presume the ex Wigan player is Mark Calderwood who must be in his late thirties by now. Real pace, but wasn't the best defender in RL, and from what I can remember, also very suspect under the high ball. Played for Leeds, Wigan and Hull.

Westoe 14-19 West Leeds

Cracking game that could have went either way.

Westoe could easily have won this game. They were totally dominant in the pack but didn't keep the play tight enough. The turning point was when they kicked for the corner when 14-13 up instead of taking the 3 points on offer. WL then kicked a penalty to go ahead with minutes to go and they sealed the win with a late penalty.

Interesting comments on the Yorkshire forum regarding this game.

Dave, how bad was the bite then? And did they not expect the plastic pitch, despite a much earlier announcement from yourselves?  ???

Excellent I'll be there and what an honour to be bestowed such a prestigious award.

Back to the match, the report rather suggests that it was a surprise to you that it was a plastic pitch.. was this the case? Presumably not...

Also are you disappointed that their official match report, available for the world to see calls you moaning sulking biters?? You say you were all pals after the match but someone doesn't hold you in high regard.

How strange? I wonder why they would claim one of your players bit one of theirs?? Bite marks perhaps or just bad losers? Oh well, one for the history books.

It appears you played well and got a good result against a decent side.

The players were fine (Apart from the bite - didn't break the skin, but canny mouth sized bruise), well-drilled and committed team.

Just had a constant stream of whinging all week before and during the match from certain officials. (Pitch, markings, school location, ball pressure, certificates from WRU, technical areas etc etc). They may argue that they were being professional; however it came across as looking for an excuse to delay the fixture.

No issue with the result; they played extremely well and we took some options that didn't work out for us. Well officiated by team of three.

Everyone was fine and happy after the match, no hard feelings - Just wish they weren't so picky about the small stuff, we're not professional level 1/2 teams.

Bring back the ruck.
