Next Season - Promotion/Relegation candidates?
« on: May 10, 2017, 01:51:50 PM »
Although the dust has barely settled on this season and admittedly a lot can happen in the off season.  Thought it would be interesting to hear peoples' views on who would be chasing promotion and who would be battling for survival come next season.

Joining the teams in DN1 looks to be 3 out of 4 (+/- level transfer of one of these or a team already in DN1) of Redcar and Ponteland from DN2 and Guisborough and Durham City from N1 East.

Barnard Castle
Hartlepool Rovers
South Shields Westoe

Difficult to look beyond Westoe and Durham , but who knows Barnie may build on an impressive last season.  Relegationů..difficult one to predict, think it'll be a tight affair next year, two of Gosforth, Ponteland, Novos and Redcar.  But again plenty of other teams could get dragged into it.

Westoe and consett to go up, westoe looked good this season. Consett have been there or there abouts for a long time if they get 1 or 2 quality players would be  real title contenders.
relegation- Hard to see past the 2 that are coming up, but i would through Novo's into the mix and maybe Rovers ,
Surprise candiates i think gateshead might put an early run together and challenge early on.
surprise relegation candidates, Horden, looked awful on the last day of the season, depends how much rain there is during the season. Maybe this was due to them having a cup final for there 2's.

Rovers  had an awful season

I remember one pundit tipping them for relegation at the start of the season which seemed lunacy but there you go, they only just stayed up

Can't believe Jon Benson and the players won't be up for putting it right

Two out of Ponteland, Redcar, Novos and Gosforth to go down

Westoe and, if they can keep it together, Barney to be the top two

Looking forward to next season think for promotion it has to be the most competitive it has been for years at the top with Westoe losing the playoff and wanting to make amends aswell as Barnard Castle consett and Westoe being up there after last seasons finish and with city and Guisborough coming down and surely wanting to head back up. My predictions consett and city.
Relegation you can't really look past the two sides that came up unless they recruit well but throwing rovers novos and possibly Gosforth into that relegation mix on last seasons performances. Anyways roll on 2017/18
