Good Movies
« on: November 28, 2014, 03:55:37 PM »
I watched a cracking movie on Sky this week called Lone Survivor, about a group of Navy Seals who get stuck in a fire fight behind enemy lines in the Afghanistan mountains. Best film I've seen for a while.

Any other good movies out there that you guys would recommend?

I've heard the film Fury with Brad Pitt in is meant to be tremendous.

Never heard of that Lone Survivor though? Might give it a watch

Its well worth a watch mate. I'll keep my eyes peeled for Fury - I like a good action-packed war movie.

I saw 'Unbreakable' on sky last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. An Olympic runner from the USA and his fellow air crew get shot down in the Pacific and float around for several weeks. Then just as things look like they can't get any worse, a Japanese ship pulls alongside and gives them a quick taxi ride to a concentration camp, where they are subjected to a brutal regime. Based on a true story, I reckon its well worth a watch.

Movies these are probably a bit dated
Man on fire
Limitless
I watched a good documentary about the NFL called a league in denial on my flight out to work about head trauma which was interesting, also a documentary/film called touching the void about 2 mountaineers that get into difficulty one is left for dead is excellent.

Man On Fire is a tremendous film mate. Denzil is a proper daddy. Thought he was great in The Equalizer as well.

Talking of older films, I watched a cracker the other night. Does anyone remember Convoy? I remember queuing up around 2-3 hours to see it at the flicks way back in 1978 and came away wanting to be a truck driver... "Breaker 1-9"

Ha ha they had a record out too there were bears in the air apparently. Fury is good with the surround sound  cranked up, my  son has a deactivated  tiger tank shell 88 mm he collects memorabilia  from WW2  it's a beast wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it . Ranulph  Fiennes  mentions Lone Survivor in his book VC hero's.

Recently saw the latest James Bond offering - "Spectre" - at the flicks.  Bloody loud film, full of explosions, car chases and breathtaking action... well worth seeing.  The only downside is the length of it (over 2hrs 30) so it may be worth going for a feed and getting a wee beforehand.

I watched the latest Mad Max film on sky last night and thought it was average. Much preferred the originals with Mel Gibson if l'm honest.
